Just a silly design flaw! I have the Rugged Ridge HD rear bumper and I had the RR license plate relocation bracket. Called OMIX prior to purchase to ask if it would work with this kit, they said yes. Well it does not work with rear camera and 3rd brake light. There is no place to mount the license plate on the HD rear bumper. So now I have to come up with another mounting solution because their stuff does not all work together. Could do a better job of making all products work in harmony. Overall a decent hinge and just ok tire mount. Wouldn't buy again though. Read Less
on the tailgate it still sags too low and the door makes a cringing thud every time I close it. I will be putting my stock hinges back on. Read Less
d shoulder bolts holding the pivot part of the hinge was snapped off at the top (where the hex fitting is). Looked like the box may have been dropped on that end and guessing the impact caused the hinge/bushing to basically sheer the top of the bolt off. In any case, Rugged Ridge was quick to Fedex me a replacement. Unfortunately, when the replacement arrived - I found that 2 of the bolts were actually cracked at the same place (even saw rust/dirt in one of the cracks) and the pivot/hinge portion was very loose on both. The box was also had a lot of packing tape on it - the first had none. Thinking perhaps it was a return? Not sure. I was clearly not happy at that point. Not sure if it was just a fluke/bad luck, but I would have hoped the replacement product would have been inspected closely prior to shipping.
After another set of emails/phone calls, I was ready to try a third, however they were out of stock and the ETA was around 2 weeks according to the person I spoke to. With my 35" tire already mounted on the carrier (Rugged Ridge carrier as perfect BTW) - I was worried about my tailgate sagging and getting damaged. My option would have been to take the spare out or just not drive the vehicle. I found another vendor that had them in stock and could get it to me in 2 days. I had Rugged Ridge refund me the cost of the hinge and they processed it immediately. The replacement showed up and was in perfect condition. Install went smooth and have had no issues with it so far.
I still would highly recommend the hinge and would recommend Rugged Ridge as their support / tech personnel were very professional and accommodating. Read Less
