I went out in the big blizzard on the 23rd to save a couple friends who got stuck out in the snow. That evening, I used this winch to pull 3 cars (including my friend's) out of the snow. 3 4 door passenger vehicles, so nothing super heavy. Dealing with the harsh below freezing winds, I managed to yank out all 3 without much fuss at all. The winch itself had no problem pulling them through the deep snow, and back onto the road. I'm certainly thrilled with the performance of it so far, and the waterproofing should help, although you may want to consider silicone on the control box where the big wires come out. There might be some small gaps there where water can get in on a really wet day.
All things considered, I would recommend this winch. If you want to see how I installed the wireless remote, go check out the summary I'll leave there. The wired controller works just fine with simple plug and play. Read Less

he bumper includes hardware for both the JK and the JL, so just discard whichever you don't need. I did do the job myself, which a lot of driveway mechanic experience prepared me for. The tricky part is aligning the main mounting bolts which connect where the old bumper did. It's pretty straightforward, and feels pretty sturdy. Time will tell if it holds up to the elements, and thankfully the 5 year warranty is there as a cushion just in case. Read Less
l. Mistake. Over the next 2 hours this winch saved me and my Gladiator. The mud on hill was so deep the winch basically pulled the Jeep sled like dragging on its undercarriage at times. Also, thank God I bought the wired control because the batteries were dead in the remote. Stick with the wired control. The only other thing was at one point I pulled the line out too far and so it started to slip. (Did I mention I never used a winch before?) I spent the next 25 minutes getting it to catch. Probably my demerit not the winch's. Read Less
